CALL FOR CURRICULUM WRITERS (REMOTE)

Location: Remote (must be based in the United States)
Rate: $32/hr; up to 40 hours weekly. (Please note that this is a listing for freelance writers and an independent contractor position.)
Project Timeline: September 2023 to December 2023
As a nonprofit design firm that leads the creation of impactful, wellness-supporting play experiences for young people, iThrive Games engages curriculum writers on a contractual basis to lend their genius to specific projects and work with our teen mental health experts, subject matter experts, and our advisory of teens and teachers.
iThrive Games is looking for passionate freelance Curriculum Writers to join our network of creatives and educators who care deeply about teen thriving. We are developing new learning experiences for high school students that integrate gameplay, multimedia tools, and in-person and virtual interactions. As a contracted Curriculum Writer, you will work under the supervision of our Senior Director of Learning and collaborate closely with our team to create innovative and learner-centered curriculum content that addresses the needs of teens and teachers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and understand the educational objectives, target audience, and overall goals of each curriculum project.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Learning to design and develop comprehensive curriculum outlines, lesson plans, assessments, and other instructional materials.
  • Honor iThrive's commitment to Universal Design for Learning, Accessibility Guidelines and DEI principles. 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of content.
  • Revise curriculum content based on stakeholder feedback, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and organizational standards.
  • Meet project deadlines and communicate effectively with the team regarding progress and challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in curriculum writing and instructional design at the high school level, and knowledge of Social and Emotional Learning preferred.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear and engaging educational content.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational, time management, written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changes in project requirements.
  • Passion for teen thriving and authentic appreciation for a whole learner approach to learning.
