How Does iThrive Sim: Constitutional Crisis Work?
In this immersive game-based curriculum, teens play critical roles during a constitutional crisis. They may be a government official, a reporter, a resident, or a law enforcement personnel. Over five class periods, students learn civics through the lens of decision-making while also engaging in information and media literacy development, social and emotional skill-building, critical thinking, and self-reflection.
As students simulate decision-makers during a crisis, they'll perform key actions including:
- Weighing the pros and cons of decisions and providing a rationale
- Collaboration, compromise, and teamwork
- Sharing verbal and written communications with the public using different media channels
- Finding and evaluating the validity of information
- Questioning people in power about their decisions
